Recruiting History
09/18/2014 - Made Northland College Roster #33
Below are some recruiting letters from D1 schools that were recruiting me. Click on the link on the school name to read their emails. Other schools that showed interest were Stanford (supposedly wanted to recruit me with weekly emails and camp invites. I went to California and Mr. Stotz was not even there after a year of weekly emails all of the sudden they stopped and it was not because of grades weird), Arizona State University (when I looked into it they did not know who I was lol. So much for getting to know me bettter but guess what they did want me to come to their camp and thought I was good enough but you probably guessed it they just wanted the money). University of Nevada Reno (Never heard from them again they only wanted me to come to their camps no matter of how much video they had of me. Funny but these schools don't have the budget to come watch me play because they make a ton of money at these camps), Northwood University (Never heard back from them but it was good to know that he liked how I played) and Covenant College ( Could not sign me unless you guessed it I attended their camp) . Of the D1's that said they wanted to recruit me none of them did except one. So do not get excited when you get these letters. As I found out they are a money making scheme or supplemental income for some coaches. They either stopped recruiting me because I was blacklisted or they just want money. Buyer beware be wise and save your money. Overall my parents spent about $25,000 in camps, hotels, travel and rental cars. If someone really wants you stay put stop playing the $$$ game once they find no talent then maybe the real recruiting can happen again. If you are really interested in a school then go to their camps but flat out ask them if they are interested or are they even recruiting your position. Ask the right questions and look at their roster depth. About 6 D3 schools wanted me just from watching my recruiting videos even though they do have camps. I was never pressured to attend. In retrospect it was not worth going to college out of state with on a hunch or promise of a starting job. Sometimes at these small schools the coach is just a salesman to bring bodies to the school. You have to be careful of lying coaches they are like used car salesmen and do not care about their integrity or your development. If you decide to go out of state ask the players if they like their coaches and program or if they have been lied to. Better route keep playing or go to a JUCO where you can develop further and then transfer when you are bigger and better. Another route is to attend the school you want and go after your education and walk on to the team. Thank you and good luck.
I would also like to thank Duke's Head coach for letting his coaching staff evaluate some of my video and evaluating me through their baseball rubric and through this recruiting process. Even though I saw two of the coaches at camps I did not get seen by the head coach so at this point my dad was done with recruiting so I could not attend their camp this was done in 2013 and I think I have developed further. I am still grinding to get better to meet my goals. Here are their eval tool results.
I appreciate the video. I did have the opportunity to evaluate your video using our video rubric. I would encourage you to attend one of our 2013 prospect showcases for a complete evaluation.
VIDEO EVALUATION:
GRADING SCALE:
1- Below average high school player tool
2- Average high school player tool
3- Average college player tool
4- All Conference/All-American College Caliber Player Tool
5- Pro Tool
The addition of + or - indicates the gap areas of the evaluation scale. The scale is used simply as a guide for college coaches. Different programs/professional scouts use different scales. It does not implicate any projection into the future and is subjective rather than objective. With hard work and diligence, the grades can be improved and will improve over a course of time.
